Kilburn Storage

Kilburn is a flat-heavy neighbourhood, and that’s exactly why storage tends to come up here. Victorian mansion blocks and converted terraces line the streets on both sides of Kilburn High Road, most of them divided into flats with limited room to spare. West of the High Road, South Kilburn is partway through one of London’s largest estate regeneration programmes, replacing older tower blocks with around 2,400 new homes across sites like Peel Precinct, the Carlton Vale Boulevard, and the Neville and Winterleys blocks. With flats in NW6 typically selling for somewhere between £570,000 and £617,000, paying to store a few things is far more sensible than paying for a bigger place with a spare room you rarely use.

The people who live here are mostly renters, and many are on the move. Around a third of households on the Brent side of Kilburn own their home, well below the London average of just under half, and the area skews young, with roughly half the population aged between 20 and 39. More than half of local households are single people living on their own. That’s a lot of young professionals, sharers and families, plenty of them with quick access to Central London via the Jubilee line at Kilburn Park and the Overground at Brondesbury. Life events that call for storage are common here. Moving between rentals, renovating a period flat, a change in relationship, or a household in transition during the South Kilburn rebuild are all regular reasons people get in touch.

Kilburn is unusual in that it straddles three boroughs, running along Kilburn High Road with the London Borough of Brent to the west, Camden to the east, and the City of Westminster touching the southern edge around Kilburn Park.
