What an Armchair Cover Actually Does

An old bed sheet slides off the back of the chair somewhere between the living room and the van. A bin bag splits on the first door frame. A cover made for the job goes right over the chair and stays put, which is the whole point of it. Dust, damp and the odd knock in transit all stay on the outside.

You get two in a pack, so you can do a pair of armchairs, or keep the second one for whichever chair needs it next.

One Size, Made for Armchairs

Each cover measures 1.8 x 1.3 metres, sized for a single armchair rather than a two or three seat sofa. If there’s a sofa to cover as well, we have a cover that fits a 2/3 seat sofa.

Getting the Best Fit

Pull the cover over the top of the chair first, then work it down over the arms and the back so every side is covered rather than draped. If the armchair has wooden feet or arms that mark easily, wrap those with a bit of bubble wrap before the cover goes on. A strip of tape round the base holds it snug, so it can’t ride up or bunch while the chair is being carried or loaded.

FAQ

Do I actually need a cover, or can I just use a sheet?

A sheet will do something, but it tends to slip partway through a move and leave the upholstery exposed anyway. A cover designed to fit stays where you put it and keeps the dust and damp off properly.

Will this fit a two seat sofa instead of an armchair?

No, this pack is sized for a single armchair at 1.8 x 1.3 metres. A sofa needs a bigger cover, we also sell a 2/3 seat sofa cover.

Can I use the same cover for a move and then for storage afterwards?

Yes. Taking it on and off won’t hurt it, so if the chair is going into storage after the move, the same cover goes straight back on.
