Chelsie was renting a furnished flat in Kensington when she got the chance to spend a year travelling and working across the United States with a friend. We stored everything she owned while she was away. When it was time to come home, she booked her delivery online from America, and we delivered it all the day after she landed.

A year across America, from coast to coast
Chelsie was renting a furnished flat in Kensington when a friend asked her to spend a year travelling across the United States. She’d be working as she went, from the East Coast to the West Coast.
Because her flat came furnished, she didn’t have much furniture to worry about. What she did have was a year’s worth of personal belongings, mostly boxes, and nowhere to keep them while she was away.
She wasn’t sure what size storage unit she’d need, so she used our online space calculator to work it out before she booked. Her 26 items fitted into a 20 sq ft unit.

What we recommend if you’re going away for a while
A few things that make leaving, and coming home, much easier.
Book a few weeks before you go
Like Chelsie, book your collection as soon as you know your leaving date. It gives you time to pack and gets the date you want.
Book your delivery before you fly home
Log into your online portal while you’re still away and choose a slot for a day or two after you land, so you’re not waiting for your things.
Use proper boxes, not bags
Sturdy boxes stack neatly, so we can fill your unit right to the top and make the most of its full height. Bags tend to collapse under weight.

Can I book my delivery while I’m abroad?
Yes. Log into your online portal, select the items you want back and choose a delivery slot. Chelsie booked hers from the US, for the day after she landed in London.
Can I see what’s in storage while I’m away?
Yes. We photograph every item at collection and add it to your online inventory, so you can see everything you’ve stored from anywhere in the world.
How much space do I need for personal belongings?
It depends how much you have. Chelsie wasn’t sure either, so she used our online space calculator. Her 26 items, mainly boxes with very little furniture, fitted into a 20 sq ft unit.
How long can I store for while I’m travelling?
The minimum is 4 weeks and there’s no maximum. After the first 4 weeks you pay week by week, so if your plans change, your things simply stay in storage.
Can you deliver everything in one go?
Yes. We can deliver everything at once, as we did for Chelsie, or just the items you need, a few at a time.
