Utility Knife

£1.75

A blue utility knife with an 18mm snap-off blade, a non-slip ridged grip and a sliding blade lock. Handy for taping up boxes before a move, and just as handy for slitting them open again once they're back from storage.

Description

A Proper Knife for the Job

The 18mm blade cuts through tape and card cleanly, the blue body is easy to spot in a pile of packing supplies, and the ridged grip holds steady in your hand even when it’s picked up a bit of tape residue.

Safer Than What You’d Normally Reach For

The sliding blade lock is why it’s worth having one of these rather than grabbing whatever’s nearest. Lock the blade in place mid-cut and it stays where you put it, so it won’t slide back into the handle while you’re working. A kitchen knife or a pair of scissors can’t do that.

A Snap-Off Blade Means It’s Always Sharp

The blade comes in sections. When the tip goes blunt from all that tape and card, snap that section away and there’s a fresh edge underneath, so there’s nothing to sharpen and no new blade to buy. Useful on a move that drags on for weeks, and useful again months later when the same boxes come back from storage and need opening.

If You’re Storing as Well as Moving

If some of what you’re packing is heading into storage rather than straight to a new address, that’s what we do too. We collect it, look after it, and bring it back when you’re ready. Get an instant quote to see what that would cost alongside your move.

FAQ

Is this safer than using a kitchen knife to unpack boxes?

Yes. The sliding lock holds the blade in place while you cut, so it can’t fold back into the handle halfway through the way an unlocked kitchen knife or a pair of scissors can catch you out.

What happens when the blade goes blunt?

Snap that section off and you’ve got a sharp edge underneath. Nothing to sharpen, and no need to buy a whole new knife.

Can I use this to open boxes coming back from storage, not just for packing?

Yes. It’s the same job either way, cutting through tape and card, so it’s just as useful when your boxes come back as it was when you sent them off.
